So, after Running PostBox on both a Windows & Mac system for a few weeks with marvelous results, I finally broke down and bought it.  And, lo and behold they start a new discount program on the same day!
So, if you want PostBox but can’t bring yourself to fork out the $40 for it, then [...]

Email Clients: Again.. With improved success.

It’s been about 8 months since I last took a stroll through email clients, trying to find one that worked in my specific setup, and I’ve decided to try again.
First off, let me recap my situation:

I have 2 main email addresses, one normal GMail account and another one for VizWorld.com, hosted on “Google Apps for [...]

Hazel Image Optimizer Improved

After using the last post’s script a bit, I figured I should add some notification of what’s going on. I added a simple Growl Notification to Hazel before the script starts, and then setup GrowlNotify to report which file I should use, and the percentage of size savings.
New script follows:

Optimizing Images with Hazel

I use the Quicksilver “Capture Region” tool alot on my Macbook to save images for use here & on VizWorld.com, and it does a great job of saving PNG’s on my Desktop.  However, I’ve recently noticed that the images could be made alot smaller (and then be alot easier on Bandwidth once I upload them [...]

Online Backup Solutions – Revisited

So I’ve revisited the post and updated [...]

Update: Be sure to checkout the followup to this article.
Recently at work we’ve had a series of drive failures.  We’ve had leaks in our server room that trashed our RAID array (even RAID5 won’t protect against submersion). We’ve had drive failures of age & use.  We’ve had raid configuration wipes due to power outages.  Time [...]

Text Editors for Mac OSX

I’ve been using my Macbook for a few months now, and loving every minute of it.  But while I’ve got OpenOffice & iWork Pages`09 for document editing, I need a good editor for code (HTML, JS, Python, C, Shell scripts, etc).  So I’ve begun looking around, and I’m a bit confounded by all the options.  [...]

Southern Baptists unveil digital music tool

Just saw this on the Clarion Ledger:
Southern Baptists on Thursday unveiled a new online digital music tool akin to Apple’s iTunes, which not only offers downloadable Christian music but allows users to custom arrange songs and produce corresponding audio files and sheet music.
Lifeway Christian Resources, the research and publishing arm of the Southern Baptist Convention, [...]

End of Innocence – Mac Trojan Horse in the wild

It seems that overzealous freeloaders have cause the proliferation of a fairly nasty Trojan Horse in the OSX community.  It’s currently available in the Pirated Torrents for Apple’s new iWork`09.  The only known cure: Format and Reinstall.  Two words that I never thought I’ld hear from the Mac community.
Intego has discovered a new Trojan horse, [...]
