Alot of people have wondered why I hate BellSouth so much. As soon as Laura & I moved into the house, I dedicated myself to getting rid of them. We did so by switching to Time Warner Cable’s RoadRunner service for internet, and then using Vonage for our phone. The Result: What used to be a $120 Phone/DSL Bill + $50 Cable bill, is now a $75 cable bill + $27 phone bill.. Almost half of what it was, with better features on the phone (Now we get Call Waiting, voicemail, and internet reporting of our phone setup) Laura & I couldn’t be happier with the setup.

So not only does Bellsouth (In my opinion) overcharge for their mediocre services, but now they’ve decided they want to charge service providers to ensure “reliable and speedy delivery”. As reported in this Internet Daily article, this means things like charging Apple for every song they transmit over the internet, and if Apple doesn’t pay then they’ll intentionally slow down their transfers. So now not only does Bellsouth get their wallets padded through Long Distance fees and made-up charges, but through double-charging the providers, which will of-course get pushed back to the consumers. It’s like asking Grandma to pay for the Toll Road that her kids had to also pay to drive on to come visit her.

If ever there was a time to ditch BellSouth, this is it.
