Wild Weekend
Well… Wild for a married couple I suppose
Laura’s mom came down this weekend a babysat Rhianna for us. While Rhi was having an absolute ball with her, Laura and I took the chance to go out and do some things.
Of course, we went to see Harry Potter. That was alot of fun. We also went out for a nice meal, and were going to go do some shopping at the mall. Unfortunately, the Northpark mall is an absolute train-wreck right now. Someone got the bright idea to install a floral median town the entire length of County-Line road, and it’s got traffic backed up for miles. No only do they have road cones & lane blockages slowing things down, but where alot of people could just turn into stores wherever, now they have to go to the red-lights to turn, meaning the obviously-too-short turn lanes back up into the regular lanes. So fair warning: If you’re going to the mall, go the long way & come from I55 North, off the 220 bypass if you have to. If you come from the south, you’ll get stuck on the Off-Ramp for a good 30-45 minutes, just to spend another 30-45 minutes crawling down County Line toward the mall.
I managed to finish Gun saturday night, that’s a great game. Basically, it’s Grand Theft Auto with horses, very free-form and expansive. I managed to hit 100% completion, meaning I finished all the side missions and poker games. the game was kinda short, but a great story and alot of fun action.
I also canceled my SWG subscription this weekend. I just can’t justify paying the $25 a month to “wait” for the game to finally become something. The new NGE has it’s good points, but it seems that if you’re a lvl80 already thanks to the conversion, then you have nothing to do. All the “exciting new content” is for the lvl1-30 crowd, so all the lvl80′s (the ones that are left anyway) just have to grind on boring creatures for 200xp a kill. And it takes 500,000 to get level81. That’s just not fun. The only quests that seem to be available for us are the same: kill 15 Lava Fleas. Between the press releases and articles (Gamespy: Star Wars Galaxies NGE Q&A) and Sony’s recent actions, I can finally see that they haven’t the slightest idea what they’re doing, and they have no respect for the customers that have kept the game afloat for the last two years. So I’m out.
On another odd note, it seems that Lockheed isn’t going to buy CSC afterall. As reported by The Register, it seems CSC was asking too much and Lockheed bowed out. So I guess I won’t have to do all the paperwork afterall.
