Call of Duty 2

The original Call of Duty was, in my opinion, the best World War 2 game ever made. The single player game was amazing, some of the most incredible battles I’ve ever partaken, and some of the most heart pounding sequences I’ve ever seen. The multiplayer was a staple at Z-Kat, we played 3 or 4 times a week. So Call of Duty 2 had alot to live up to, in my mind.
Well, I finally broke down and got it for the PC (after trying it on the XBox360, that story next). I have to admit, I’m not disappointed. The story is still there, as well as the amazing battles. There are a few differences, but all for the better. They’ve added Smoke grenades now, which are great for snipers, and they’ve removed weapon encumbrance so you move at the same speed no matter what you carry. They’ve also removed the “hit point” idea, moving instead to some kind of “temporary damage” thing where you only die if you take so many hits in so short of a time. On regular, it’s a pretty big number of hits. The game has some astounding effects capabilities, tho. The same old “shell shock” effect is still there, but they’ve added alot of stuff like half-tracks driving over you while you’re hunkered down in trenches, and explosions that actually do collapse buildings in real-time.
So I’m happy, and highly recommend it to all you out there. Giving this one, a 5 of 5 so far…
Update: Wednesday, 11:39pm Beat it on “Regular” (one notch up from “Easy”), about 4 days. Simply awesome game. One of the few FPS’s I plan to play through again on a higher difficulty setting
