Busy Busy week…
It’s been a busy busy week. I’ve been busting my butt on this new algorithm at work. It’s by far the most complicated math I’ve ever done. So far I’ve had to write & derive code and math to do:
- Jacobians via Central Differencing
- Compute Eigenvalues of a 3×3 Matrix
- Which requires a Cubic Solver
- a Three-Dimensional Fourth-Order Lagrangian Interpolator
- Another vorticity calculator
- Code to minimize the Lambda2 Eigenvalue on a 2d plane, within a 3d volume
And I’m not finished yet. I have to say, thanks to MathWorld and Numerical Recipe’s for alot of this stuff. It’s nice to be working on this kinda stuff, tho, as it’s a good use of that 6-years I spent in engineering school.
Laura started her new job at the PT Clinic this week, so she’s slowly adjusting to the noon-4:30 shift they have her on. She seems to be enjoying it, and I know I’ll be enjoying it too when the paychecks start rolling in ![]()
At home, Rhianna’s been just an angel. She’s been having fun at daycare, and made a new little friend named Jordan. I’ve been picking her up in the afternoon, since I typically beat Laura home by about 20 or 30 minutes. Rhi doesn’t seem to mind, tho. But with Laura dropping her off, and me picking her up, our 2:1 car to Car Seat ratio is becoming a pain. So we’ll have to address that this weekend, I think.
Speaking of this weekend, it’s movie-rama! Laura and I hope to see go Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire at Tinseltown this weekend. It’ll probably be a Saturday matinee (We are responsible money-saving parents afterall), but we hope we can see it, since it’s all anyone will be talking about on Monday. I still haven’t read the books, but the more time that passes the more I think I should. I’ve been told the story by friends, so I kinda know what to expect. It should be a great action-packed movie.
We’re also really interested in Walk the Line which opened today. We’re both big fans of Jonny Cash, and we’re both impressed with how much Joaquin Phoenix sounds like him in the trailers. I doubt we’ll have the chance to take in two movies this weekend, so it may have to wait till next week.
Before I wrap up this update, I wanna publicly Congratulate Scott Illsley! He’s an old friend of mine from my Z-Kat days, and I hear he’s moving on from there to new endeavors. So to Allison & Scott, Congratulations and may your future be so bright, you have to wear shades.
