Frank Miller\’s Sin City
Well, this weekend Frank Miller’s Sin City opened up in theatres. Laura & I hadn’t gone to see a good movie in a while, so we went to check it out.
Well, from the previews & such I was expected a highly stylized action movie, starring Bruce Willis. I expected a story about a dirty cop doing the right thing in a bad town, and being framed for all kinds of nasty things that he has to kill all the bad folks in town to clear his name. Boy was I wrong.. Kinda..
It’s hard to describe. The movie was nothing like what I expected. 30 seconds in I was thinking “What the hell is this?” 10 minutes in I was really considering walking out, after seeing the gore and corny dialog. 30 minutes in I was starting to really like it tho. Basically, it’s a collection of loosely-related short stories, all placed in “Basin City”. The visuals are stunning, and not only do they help the “Gritty sin city” look, but they kinda enhance the violence and gore.
In short, it’s a really good film once you get used to the corny dialog, and become a little desensitized to the violence. Definately NOT a film for kids, tho.
