I got an email today from Rony Abovitz, my old boss at Z-Kat asking me if I could help him get into his gmail account. He had forgotten the password. Given all the technical gadgets Rony plays with on a daily basis, I wasn’t surprised. But once he got it working again, he said I should try googling for his name to see what came up.

Boy was I surprised. Evidently Rony was at the World Economic Forum (Z-Kat has been named a “Technology Pioneer” twice now), and attended a discussion entitled “Will Democracy Survive the Media?”. In typical geek fashion, he blogged the event. Apparently during the discussion, Eason Jordan, Chief News Executive of CNN, stated that he knew of 12 journalists that were specifically targeted and killed by US Troops in Iraq. (Updated: Thanks to VirajAlankar for pointing out that goof :) )

Of course, the media jumped all over this and once they found out Rony had blogged it online, he became a bit of a celebrity. You can check the trackbacks at the bottom of his blog entry and see that he’s got links ranging from The Indepundit to The National Political Observer to former reporters turned bloggers. Rony is using his “15 minutes of fame” to Fix The World.
