Ethics in Job-Hunting
Having just finished a successful job transition, and seeing a few friends do the same, I was kinda surprised to see this pop up on VirajAlankar’s website.
Basically, someone applied for my old job at Z-Kat, and got the old Tcl/Tk Programming test I designed. Rather than solve it himself, he just Googled for the test online, to see if someone had already completed it & posted the results. That doesn’t really bother me, I would do the same thing in his shoes. But what did somewhat bother me is how he had the balls to ask us former Z-Kat employees for the answer?
Of course, none of us gave him the answer (to my knowledge, anyway), and the fact remains that if anyone from Z-Kat tried to google info on “Presley” they run a good chance of finding his requests & comments on Viraj’s website, so the guy probably shot himself in the foot here. But why would someone cheat on a test like this, only to get a job that they would be unqualified for & subsequently fired for incompetence?
