Another reason not to watch the News
Fox News specifically.
Apparently, not too long ago in fact, a Florida (are you surprised?) Court of Appeals ruled that it’s legal for Media Organizations (Fox News in this case) to purposely and intentionally distort facts and information for public viewing. In this case, it was lying about the effects of Bovine Growth Hormone on cow’s milk. Two reporters in charge of the story refused to air the story & threatened to report Fox News to the FCC. Of course, they were fired. They sued, and got a $400k settlement.
Then, the Florida Court of Appeals overturned the settlement saying that the First Ammendment gave news organizations the right to air whatever they believe, whether it was true or not. *What?* Apparently the FCC has a “policy” against false news, but it “does not rise to the level of a law, rule, or regulation,”, so their was no legal basis of the first suit.
