YTNEF in the World
One of my proud achievements is decoding the Microsoft TNEF format, and writing yTNEF. It’s become kinda popular, and every now and then I like to google for it and see what I find. Today I took another tour of the internet and here’s what I found:
* RPM pBone.net has starting offering Sparc, Alpha, PowerPC, and IA64 RPM’s..
* WMParser actually recommends yTNEF for reading Winmail.dat attachments on Linux/Unix.
* Thomas Kotzian has made a Fink Package
* MacFixIt recommends ytnef for Macintosh OSX Users.
* TNEFClean uses ytnef in a client-side perl script for automatic processing
* http://hipme.com/software/appointment/ – a Danger Hiptop/T-Mobile Sidekick Appointment system that uses ytnef to create VCalendar files.
* More solutions.co.uk recommends ytnef for TNEF streams on linux, and laments the fact that it’s not available for Windows..
* http://www.pokorra.de/kolab/tnef/ – Somebody getting close & dirty with lots of TNEF code.. Evidently working with some calendaring software
* MIT’s IT Department installed ytnef on their systems
* Eric Phelps recommends it.
* people on the Redhat mailing lists have been trying it.
* The Tao of Mac lists it as a “Mail Tool”..
* A linux user’s group talking about it.
* Brian Chase likes it.
So it looks like a few people in the world actually like my program
SourceForge shows about 5,000 downloads, but since other people are distributing RPM’s I don’t know how many people actually have it. I just hope they keep liking it, and it helps a few people…
