I spent most of last week in Warsaw, Indiana on a business trip. It’s a nice little town, and reminds me alot of Starkville. It’s a small town with a large “intellectual” population, because it has Biomet, MedTronic, Zimmer, DePuy, and other medical companies all based there. Just like Starkville has MississippiStateUniversity there.

Also, apparently I’ve become rather accustomed to south Florida’s nice sunny weather. The first day in Warsaw was around 60F, and I had short sleeves. A little chilly, but it felt great to finally feel cold weather again. That night there were Lake Snow advisories, and it got pretty cold. The next day, even with my jacket on, every time the wind blew my lungs siezed up. Couldn’t breathe, couldn’t talk, could hardly walk. It hurt. I bet Christmas in Meridian, MS is gonna be interesting this year :)

So why was I there you ask? A cadaver lab. Yes, that’s right. A cadaver lab, as in a dead body. Or more specifically, a dead body’s torso. We didn’t need the whole body, so we got a disembodied torso to work on (no legs, no arms, no head). And to make it worse, this was the 2nd time they’ld used it! Talk about foul. Luckily my stomach held up, but the stench was horrible (it wasn’t embalmed). Once it was draped, it wasn’t so bad, but it’s just really creepy to be in a cold white room with a disembodied torso 20 feet away.

Luckily everything went well, so I shouldn’t be heading back that way anytime soon :)
